  1. The main objective of the study is about living and working conditions of the Leather Puppet making craft persons of Andhra Pradesh.
  2. To map the current socio-economic status and skill sets of of the Leather Puppet making craft persons and impact of various programs
  3. To identify the uniqueness, strength, key limitation in terms of Design, technology, marketing, distributions of contemporariness/appeal etc.,
  4. To study the present scenario of the existing trends
  5. To examine the marketing and strategies adopted by the Leather Puppet making craft persons for enhancing market share and penetrations
  6. To assess critical role played by relevant institutions for promotion of awareness among the masses for acceptance of handicrafts and expending sale of the craft product
  7. To identify role of infrastructure created by Government and others
  8. To examine the role of backward and forward linkages created with different institutions like raw material suppliers, middleman, banks, and export house
Goal of the Project This study aims to scrutinize and examine the issue related to living and working conditions of Leather Puppet making craft persons of Andhra Pradesh and resistance for the artisans to improve their skills, availability of good raw material, direct marketing channel, credit and enough  wages and socio-economic benefits,marketing strategy & policies, distribution structure/network.

  1. Primary data collected from predominantly in proposed project area.
  2. The primary research would employ combination of   quantitative and qualitative technique. This technique would be an extensive survey covering the Leather Puppet making craft persons of Andhra Pradesh.
  3. The various participatory appraisal techniques will be used for qualitative technique in the selected areas together first-hand information about different indicators related to objective.
  4. The team of PACE will visit the project areas to interact with the local craftsmen and artisans through structured Focus Group Discussions (FGD’s).
  5. The questionnaire will be prepared and finalize in consultation with concerned department. and pre- tested before undertaking.
  6. The data collected through the in-depth interactions both with the Government sector and the target community will be analyzed.

NABARD – VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Aims & Objectives The objective of Village Development Plan is to develop the selected village in an integrated manner. This would include economic development, infrastructure development and other aspects of human development i.e., education, health, drinking water supply, etc., besides access to credit.
Goal of the Project The ultimate goal of the project is to create a self containing eco-system, developing rural economies through available infrastructure and resources, initiate reverse migration to village and all round development of the Village..
Supporting Agency NABARD
Activities
  • Top priority will be given to Road connectivity. The Villagers very much requested for immediate sanction of a Tahr (BT) Road in the place of metal road for main road, which is about 5 km (up to Matlivaripalle) and laying of Cement Roads within the village which contributes for improving quality of life of the village communities.
  • There is dire need to provide drinking water .The villagers requested to dig new bore wells and appoint one local person for the proper management of over head tank. 
  • There are about 60 C.B Cows in this small village. The milch animals which are at home mostly suffer from short of fodder particularly in summer months. Encouragement need for fodder plots.
  • Implementation of Micro watershed needed
  • Development of other infrastructure facilities (Individual based) which improves the living standards of the village communities.
  • Formation and Strengthening of community based organizations for linking them to various external agencies for accessing different developmental opportunities.
  • Creating awareness and providing trainings to the village communities for effective & efficient utilization of available resources.
  • Comprehensive approach for sustainable livelihoods promotion.
  • Linking the CBOs and all households to mainstream banking institutions and enabling them to access affordable and effective financial services.

Outcome
  • Total Financial Inclusion – Covering all the eligible people of the identified village under the banking services. The present coverage of the formal banking system will be close to 100% at the end of III year.
  • Increasing the credit flow – The present credit flow will be doubled in the third year. The emphasis would be on not only improving the credit access but also its proper utilization and recycling. Further, the eligible farmers will be covered through KCC and Bamboo artisans with ACC.
  • Road Connectivity -All weather road connectivity to the hamlets by III year.This includes internal roads and approach roads to hamlets. The road infrastructure will be improved through various interventions.
  • Improving the literacy - The present level of literacy will be improved and the goal is to achieve cent percent literacy by the end of III year. The educational infrastructure will be improved at the village level.
  • Irrigation – The present irrigated area would be tripled in the three year period, through various measures aimed at water harvesting & conservation.
  • Reduction in BPL family –The aim would be to reduce the number by atleast 30% in three year period through various measures like capacity building, creating livelihood opportunities, improving wage employment etc.,
  • Creation of Livelihood opportunities – Impact would be measured in terms of improving the opportunities planned under Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Fisheries and Horticulture. Aim would be to improve the dry land horticulture and sericulture through modern practices. The farmers would be trained to adopt more of water saving crops. Marketing infrastructure would also be improved.
